This new firmware has various bug fixes, including key fixes listed below. Upon completion of the firmware upgrade, the device will turn off. Power on the device to complete the upgrade process.
My sansa is in msc mode. The copy of the epf. After approx. What can i do? Path is to long. The e then does its database update and just sits there doing nothing noticeable. Anyone got any advice for my problem? Holding the Left button with hold engaged forces the player to connect in MSC mode. If you have it in MSC mode through the settings menu, you can omit that part of it.
Within the last two weeks, I explained how I managed to get the updater to work on my v2. You should be able to find it on this site with a quick search…it may help.
The only postings I find from you on the subject discuss doing it with the firmware updater from Windows. I was trying to do it from Linux my main OS here. I did dig out the old windows laptop XP and downloaded the firmware updater, installed it and tried to run it, but it keeps claiming that there are no updates available when I know that there certainly is one. After the file transfer is done I forgot to unmount the usb device before disconnecting it. The comment that is made about Shuffle in the list does not state this.
That is total nonsense. As for the External 4gb Sandisk microcard. Correct that and you guys become Maytag men. Then, if you have nothing to do, write a users manual. My ev2 is not recognized by the computer. The music on it, more than songs, just disappeared. One day they were there; the next, they were gone. Turning the hold button, pressing the left button when connecting does not do anything. Any help for where to look to get the Sansa e to update would most appreciated.
It worked flawlessly for 3. If you manually switch over to the opposite mode, your music will not be visible from the PC side. Try connecting your e first without changing modes- look under My Computer for the e under Other Devices, and under Devices with removable storage…does it show up there? Then try connecting manually in MSC mode by switching the hold switch on orange visible , then plug in the device while holding the rewind button down.
If you can find the sansa in this mode, load the 3. It would be good to be able to revert to a prior version to see if the bug also existed in that version or if something was done in a later revision that caused the bug. All easily changed back to your preferred settings. Up until now, I could copy these with the rest of the album folder with no problem, and they would display when playing on the Sansa. All the older albums are still there and, while the previously loaded artwork still displays, the image files are not to be seen in the file listing in Window Explorer when exploring the Sansa.
But they HAVE to be there-- they still display on the player! These image files are originally downloaded by Windows Media Player when you play the CD on your computer. MSC mode allows drag and drop of all file types, including cover art. MTP mode does not allow drag and drop of jpgs.
Change it back to MSC and see if it fixes you up. After I updated my firmware, the tip-off that something was amiss was the time … it defaulted to hour time! I did some further checking and found that several default settings had changed. This firmware works like crap, it kills your MP3 player. First off, credit to THComputerGuy for figuring this out, and posting it here.
If you have upgraded to Just follow these instructions for manual install clipped from the original post in this thread. Manual install is a snap — I recommend ditching the updater, because updates are going to be few and far between for the discontinued e v1. Ok, I just took a hammer too it and destroyed it into many pieces. I will never buy a MP3 player from Sandisk again. Totally pissed ex-customer. HGST Support. Also, is there a zip link for firmware version Re-installing the firmware will not solve a corrupted file s issue.
You need to run ChkDsk to find and repair the files. Leave your player in MSC mode. But try the ChkDsk first. Are you sure you have a v1 model? Verify which model you have before proceeding. The firmware update link for the v1 model is in the 1st post of this thread that you posted in.
There are different regional versions. Make sure you download the correct one. Yes, it is a version one, the back does not show that it is version 2, and the current firmware is OK, that confirms that, but the. I never updated my v1. I left it on. Others have even reverted back to this version. My e v1 I believe keeps turning on by itself , and then turn back off the same way. When I try to turn it on, it turns off just a while later.
The v1 and v2 work the same but they are totally different when it comes to troubleshooting. Look in the FAQ…. Hold the power button for 20seconds again, put batter back in, try it out…. It might just be stuck in a loop.
